Machine to become – Woman

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Provocatively titled „Machine to become – Woman”, this first of all refers to the concept of „becoming-woman” by the philosopher Deleuze. becoming-women means the deconstruction of all attributes of femininity and masculinity. It is a means of dissolving any form of duality and identity. „Becoming” can only happen in an encounter from body to body: „… it‘s a zig-zag. I become the other so that the other can become something else.“ (Deleuze)

Confrontationally, the machine also stands for our society. For a system with rules and an end product. We are all part of this machine, shaping it and being shaped. Our piece reflects a part of the big social machine. There are rules to which you are submitted, but you can influence the content.

Images emerge and disappear, dictated by the relationship between the audience and the performers. Our performance shows the constant change of the female body in interaction with the audience, stimulated by their decisions.

„Machine to become – Woman” is an improvisation-based performance that opens a thinking space, designs utopias, makes statements, and shakes preconceived notions of gender identity.
